Melissa Siegrist, (1984, Amsterdam) started studying Architecture at the School of Arts in Utrecht and later completed fashion studies at the Arnhem Institute of Fine Arts (ArtEZ).
She graduated in 2010 with a sober, clear and fresh
collection in womenswear, with a touch of masculinity. Sportswear inspired ready-to-wear executed with classic poplins, wools, and jersey. Strong tailored shorts, polo shirts, and blouses, in grey-tones. A relaxed silhouette, comfortable and elegant.
After two internships at Viktor & Rolf's menswear department, and an internship in New York with Three As Four, she is taking her steps to even further explore menswear.
For the
Team '12 collection, Melissa Siegrist continues to explore the borders between classic mens and womenswear. A combination of big sculptural tops, with fluid bottoms in multiple layers. Intrigued by volcanos and their fertility and power.
This collection results in burnt color tones (navy, black grey, and forest green) and ripped open weaves which take inspiration from earth and ash. An unconventional combination of materials (raw jute, linen, silk chiffons, and classic poplins) are balanced through proportion and consistency.
